Let’s go back to 1969. Former Philips employee Gerard Meulensteen starts his own business, under the name of Elektrotechnisch Projecten Bureau Meulensteen: the start of an enterprise that has evolved into todays Neways: an internationally operating supplier of industrial and professional electronics with twelve subsidiaries, located in the Netherlands, Germany, East Europe and China.
The transition from a regional company into an internationally operating enterprise took place in the 1970s and 1980s. Neways, listed on the Amsterdam stock exchange since 1986, underwent enormous autonomous growth at the end of the 1980s. In the early 1990s the emphasis was on acquiring other companies.
1997 marked the start of Neways’ activities in Eastern Europe, with Asia following in 1998. By subcontracting production to subsidiaries in Eastern Europe and Asia, Neways Electronics has achieved substantial cost reductions and proved to be far in advance of later market trends.
At the beginning of the 21st century, Neways Electronics consolidated its position on the German market and expanded its activities in Eastern Europe and Asia.
After the acquisition of the Bus Group in Germany at the end of 2014, Neways Electronics enters the European Top 10 EMS-players.
